  1. Here's something David wrote about a memorable summer trip:

I’ll always remember a field trip I took when I was going to Camp Gan Israel. All of us went down to the harbor and took a small boat to Plum Island. Many of the kids got sea sick on the way there, but I did not. I was working on smelling the fresh air and looking around.

When we arrived and made it to our camp site, we tried to set up the tent, but it turned out we were missing a pole. We finally figured out what was wrong and used a stick in place of it.

After the tent was up, we went to the site of some old war ruins. I had never seen anything like this before. For the next four hours, my friends and I staged a miniature war in the ruins and then walked around. After that we took a tour of the island and then had some hot dogs and marshmallows.

In the middle of the night, my friends and I went swimming with a camp counselor. We brought our flashlights and hung them from trees to light the water. While swimming, my brother found a handle to a sword under the water. It rained later that night, and someone left the tent open! We woke up early to a wet tent floor. Fortunately, our sleeping bags had done a pretty good job of keeping us dry.
